Smallmouth Bass are making a great comeback on Lake Winnebago and throughout the entire Winnebago system. The past few years we have seen an explosion of fish both on the reefs and in the shallow waters.Smallies can be caught in a variety of ways on the system and below I have listed some of the popular areas to fish for Smallmouth Bass on Lake Winnebago. If you have a tip or trick for catching these great fighting fish, feel free to send me your tip or trick and we will post it on here for others to see and to try.
We have been finding the size of the smallmouth bass to be very good this year. I recently was on a trip with some clients and we did real well for them on the northern end of the lake in 8 feet of water. This area is real sandy on the bottom, and I am sure the fish were there looking for crayfish to eat. We were looking for walleyes but got into some dandy sized small mouth bass.
